A thousand people pledging $20 every month could raise
the $20,000 a month to keep the center open.

'To be able to come here and be treated royally, which
is what it's like, is a major gift,' says [Dianna] Carlsen.

For years, the Breast Cancer Resource Center has had a special relationship with Bargain World, whose telemarketing group actively solicits donations of goods from the greater Tacoma area on our behalf.  You may call (253) 927-6615 to schedule a pick-up appointment at which time a truck with our logo will arrive to collect your items.  Our relationship with Bargain World is called a “co-venture” which allows for in-person drop-off of goods to Bargain World's store located at 4502 North Pearl Street in Tacoma.  Since we are unable to use many of your household items and clothing for our clients directly, we allow Bargain World to purchase your donations from us and sell them in their store.  This gives your donation twice the impact: as a cash donation to the Center and as merchandise for Bargain World.  Thrift stores like Bargain World are seeing their customer base grow rapidly in our tough economy, so please consider donating your goods on behalf of the BCRC.

Tips on donating:

It’s always good to call the store at (253) 759-7811 before dropping off a large donation in person to make sure they have room.  You may also ask for clarification on an item when arranging for pick-up.  Bargain World does not accept televisions or major appliances, such as stoves, refrigerators, or clothes dryers.  When donating a working computer, please make sure it includes a monitor.  Working items that may be donated as incomplete sets are coffee makers/carafes, stereo speakers, or book series.  Filing cabinets, beds, mattresses, desks, and exercise equipment are greatly appreciated in addition to more traditional donations of clothes, shoes, jackets, children’s items, and bedding.
